(Interview Series) - If you’ve been following our recent reports on gaming mice based on laser technology and the surface tracking issues they posed, you’ll remember that towards the end of the articles, we requested our readers to send us questions that they would like to ask Logitech, Razer and a group of mousepad manufacturers in regards to the implementation of laser technology in gaming mice. We received an overwhelming number of replies to our request, and since many questions hinted towards the same key points, we’ve decided to compile them into questions of their own to forward to appropriate companies. Since Razer also manufacturers its own mousepads, it was not a surprise to see Razer recommend its own eXactmat and Mantis cloth mats. Logically, you would expect Razer to make sure its gaming mice and mousepads are compatible, if nothing else. Between the two (eXactmat and Mantis), Razer leaned towards the Mantis, and confirmed that almost all cloth mousepads should work well with its mice as well, especially now that Razer has issued a firmware upgrade to tweak its laser mice. However, the company did suggest staying away from the QPad. We are still awaiting replies to a few more questions from the aforementioned companies, and hope to publish them in the near future. As always, keep sending us your questions and we’ll do our best to get them answered.
