(Special Report) - After we published our interviews with Logitech and Razer and our thoughts on the matter, we invited readers to send us questions that they wanted to ask the aforementioned companies in regards to laser technology. Much to our surprise, especially after Logitech said the number of users who were experiencing problems with laser technology had declined substantially over the past few weeks, we received hundreds (if not thousands) of e-mails from readers who had comments on our articles. These comments didn’t necessarily include questions for Logitech or Razer, but many readers reiterated their experiences with their laser mice, how they remedied the annoying surface tracking issues they experienced and overall advice for budding buyers. Once you read those messages, they ultimately offered the same advice, which is to actually test the mice on various mousepads, if possible (usually at BestBuy, CompUSA, Circuit City or other local stores). Many readers also said to either buy a new mousepad if you are having issues with surface tracking or try to troubleshoot the mice via the included software (or upgrade the firmware in Razer mice). Needless to say, it’s common advice and something that you would accept from Logitech’s/Razer’s technical support personnel and online forums, but either way, we appreciated the comments we received. The actual questions we received for Logitech and Razer were well thought out and did in fact confirmed that users were very concerned about the immaturity in laser technology. We picked the top few questions that we felt covered the entire argument surrounding laser technology and forwarded them to Logitech and Razer. We are also working with a few mousepad manufacturers who contacted us after reading our interviews to offer their input on the matter as well. So, in the near future, expect to see consistent replies from Logitech, Razer and a group of mousepad manufacturers as they work together to answer all of you questions. We would like to thank all of you who took the time to send us messages with your concerns, suggestions and questions. We would also like to thank Logitech, Razer and a select group of mousepad manufacturers for working with us to answer all reader mail, and making it their top priority. Once again, we encourage you to send us questions for Logitech, Razer and mousepad manufacturers regarding the future of laser technology in gaming mice.
