It appears as though NVIDIA has managed to gain quite a few customers with its well-organized launch and exceptional availability. According to a source near NVIDIA’s board partners, it has come to our knowledge that the 7800GTX high-end graphics adapter is doing rather well with its sales. The source reported that customers are quickly adopting the high-end part as a part of their systems.

Unfortunately, this means that the more ATI delays its R520 products, NVIDIA would continue to benefit from its one time deed (unless it does the same thing with the 7800GT, which is a possibility) and gain more market share. Even more critically is that ATI must make its product available right when it officially launches its upcoming line of products. As we had previously pointed out, ATI could’ve introduced its R520 at Computex, but it would’ve resulted in a paper launch with no actual products available for sale. And since both GPU makers had tarnished their reputations with previous product lines, ATI was diligent enough not to make the same mistake again.

Specific sale numbers from individual board partners were not available.
