OCZ Technology is now more associated with its performance power supplies and memory modules in the enthusiast market segment than cooling solutions for microprocessors. A while back, OCZ introduced a series of average heatsinks that were priced competitively, but performed averagely. At the time, they were decent enough to recommend even for slight overclocking adventures, however, the series has just lost touch with the market without updates to the product line.

An insider near OCZ reported that the company is working on new cooling solutions that will be targeted at enthusiasts at affordable price points. The source also mentioned that OCZ has plans to compete against some of the tier one cooling companies such as Thermaltake, Thermalright, Cooler Master and Zalman.

Although the insider did not reveal many details on the designs and OCZ’s plans, it did mention that OCZ is planning on entering the cooling market in full force with enthusiasts in mind. The heatsinks are currently in the designing phase, which should take a bit of time before the actual product hit retail shelves. It’s also unclear whether OCZ will introduce a completely new product line or one product at a time to continue to bring fresh products over a period of time. Despite everything, at least one thing is clear: OCZ is readying heatsinks for enthusiasts and the company has plans to reenter the market in full swing.
