RiDATA HD DVD Media On Display
(Special Report) - The epic battle between Blu-Ray and HD DVD rages on and will continue to rage on in 2007. Despite the outrageous research Pioneer released (we’ll talk more about the research tomorrow – make sure you check back), no one we talked to was willing to pick a winner just yet. Of course, everybody wanted to be politically correct and not pick a standard quite yet, but the signs aren’t looking well. Our personal thanks goes to LG for releasing a dual Blu-Ray and HD DVD player, but a lot of other companies are fairly strict on what they want to support.
Essentially, it’s the same old, same old confusion. Some said one of the two will emerge as the winner, others said there will certainly be a winner and some people even went on to say that Blu-Ray and HD DVD will never unite technically.
We can understand the not uniting part because the architectural differences between Blu-Ray and HD DVD are fairly complex, but wow, take a look at those guesses. They are all over the place.
Funnily enough, in our interview, not a single representative talked about consumers and how confused they were going to be once they saw Blu-Ray and HD DVD retails discs, blank media and writers appear on market shelves. Funny, yet unfortunate at the same time.
