(Special Report) - It seems as though Kensington is making quite a mark for itself recently. We noticed Kensington’s name popped up quite often in our discussions internally at CoolTechZone.com’s editorial offices as well as in the marketplace. And certainly, when you talk about a peripherals company, you have to compare it to Logitech, a favorite among CoolTechZone.com editors and product analysts. Therefore, when we met with Kensington at CES 2007, one of our first questions was regarding Kensington’s stance against Logitech and its high-end gaming peripherals line of products. Kensington made it very clear that it had no problem letting Logitech lead the very high-end, niche gaming sector of the market. The company admitted that Logitech has done a good job in getting to the top and remaining there with impressive features. But Kensington, however, isn’t necessarily interested in focusing on the exclusive gaming market, though that can always change. Kensington said it’s more interested in catering to the mainstream buyers who just want a product that works. It’s not interested in integrating 10 pre-programmable buttons with custom application support and whatever else Logitech suggests, but it would rather go with the simplified approach. If you visit Kensington’s website, you will see simplicity across all of its products. The idea is simple: provide simple products that are easy to use without unnecessary bells and whistles. As far as Logitech is concerned, guess what, guys? You are safe for now. Enjoy it while it lasts. Check out the latest prices on Kensington products at TigerDirect.com!
