(Special Report) - Now that the market is proliferated with a multitude of iPod accessories, what's the next step for iPod accessory makers? Why, cars, of course. We had a talk with Kensigton at CES 2008 where the company was showcasing an entire product line for cars for the famed music player. None of the accessories we saw on the show floor, whether from Kensington or anyone else, were overly complex for obvious reasons. It was mainly adapters, holders, FM tuners or a mixture of all three. Nice, simple and to the point. Zune: The Rising iPod Killer Our primary concern is with in-car connectors to connect all of these accessories with. After all, you need a power source, and at most, you are seeing 2x power connectors in cars these days. Those power connectors will be split between iPod accessories, phone chargers, GPS devices and a host of other automotive appliances. It's a valid concern, the companies we talked to confirmed. However, they are betting on the fact that a lot of users won't be connecting all of their devices at the same time. As such, working with 2x power connectors should be good to go for the most part. Either way, look forward to a lot of product reviews on iPod accessories that are designed solely for cars. And we wouldn't be surprised to see special edition products that are made just for specific brands, especially in the luxury category of the automotive market. Obviously expect to pay a premium on a Mercedes or BMW branded iPod FM tuner. Click here to check out the latest prices on iPod accessories for cars!
