If you have a PC you know how dirty and filthy it gets after couple months of use. It doesn’t have that shiny new look when you first bought it. You see dust particles hanging off the motherboard, heatsink, fans etc. Maybe you spilled coffee on the keyboard and now every key on your keyboard is brown. Maybe your mouse has stains on it. The list goes on and on forever. There is no end to dirtiness especially when it comes to computers. So today we decide to dedicate this article to dirty computers.

We will take small steps and tell you how to clean almost every major part of your computer.

{Mouse} Mouse is one of the things that we use quiet a lot when we are using our computers so it is bound to get dirty. If you have a normal ball mouse and it is getting dirty, we recommend taking it apart. Once it is in pieces you can use alcohol and cotton swabs to clean the tiny pieces. If the ball isn’t scrolling and working properly like it used just dip it in water and clean it off with a cotton towel. DO NOT put the circuit board under water or use alcohol on it. This might damage your mouse permanently.

{Keyboard} Usually keyboard is the place where you can find spilled over coffee and other food deposits underneath the keys. First we recommend, taking the keyboard, turning it upside down and shaking it. This way all the dried food and other grime will just fall off. To further clean your keyboard you need to take out all the keys from their sockets. All you need is a screwdriver to pop the keys out. If you have a digital camera we recommend that you take some pictures of the keyboard so you know which keys go where. After you have removed the keys from their sockets then it is time to get some cotton swabs and alcohol and begin the tedious task of cleaning your keyboard. Be sure to wipe of alcohol with cotton towel. While you are cleaning the insides of your keyboard, you can dip the keys in warm soapy water. Make sure you completely dry them off before putting them back in the keyboard.

{Case} All you really need is a cotton towel to clean the case from the outside but from the inside it is a different story. Take a can of compressed air and remove all the dust from open holes and spaces by spraying compressed air in them.

{Fan & Heatsinks} Once again take a can of compressed air and spray it on the fans. This will clean the fans without damaging any circuit or wires connected to these components. You can remove the heatsink and wipe of the dust from the copper base and fins.

{Monitor} This is one of the crucial components that you must clean on regular basis or else you will start to see some differences in visual quality. There are monitor cleaners available in computer stores that you can purchase and just wipe your monitor screen with them. You can also take a wet towel and just wipe the screen it. Either way cleaning your monitor is quite simple.

{Other Sensitive Hardware} By “Other Sensitive Hardware” we mean components such as motherboards and hard drives. Once again all you need is a can of compressed air. Spray the air and everything should be clean and perfect.

Now you can enjoy your newly cleaned and much better looking computer.
