Okay, since you have collected the equipment and
got the CPU cooler, case fans, video card coolers, HDD coolers
and your case as cold as a freezer (just kidding, you can’t
have a case as cool as a freezer) and you are done reading “Overclocking
AMD CPU: Part1” then let’s continue, shall we.
AMD CPU’s are easy to overclock unlike the
old days where you had to unlock the CPU and do all sorts of mad
stuff with it. Make sure if you don’t have one of the new
chipsets then you might have to unlock your CPU like the old days.
I can’t really write a guide to unlock the CPU since there
is not very much demand for it but if you search on Google,
you should be able to find some helpful information on this specific
matter. There are also unlocking kits for AMD CPU’s if you
happen to have an older motherboard which doesn’t automatically
unlocks the CPU.
Make sure you are familiar with your BIOS (Binary Input Output
System). I am assuming that you know how to get into your computer’s
BIOS, if not then post the model of your motherboard in our messageboards
and someone will help you shortly. Once you are in the BIOS just
follow the following steps:
1. Go into the BIOS
2. Look for your FSB (Front Side Bus) settings
3. In 3Mhz increments increase your FSB slowly.
4. Reboot your computer and play some games for 2 hours or so
and make sure your computer is stable or if you prefer you can
download demo versions of benchmarking software and run come loops
of benchmarks over and over to see the stability of your PC.
If you are able to successfully complete the above
steps then you have successfully overclocked your AMD CPU.
Congratulations!!! Enjoy your speedy hot new CPU.
