Several weeks ago, we did a review on Thermalright’s SLK-947U HSF. Although we had no problems with the product itself but we discovered misleading and unclear information regarding the product on Thermalright’s website. Below is a quote from our SLK-947U HSF that will refresh regarding our concerns:

We are done with the overall conclusion of the heatsink but we have yet to tackle some really important issues that concerned us in numerous ways. We have already discussed the importance of an installation guide with this heatsink so we won’t be staying into that matter for much longer. Even though there was no installation guide provided with the heatsink we expected to see the steps on the website for both processors regardless the difference in installation steps. The comment (Specs subject to change without notice) was also very disturbing. Any reputable company such as Thermalright should not post something on their website to mislead their customers or to raise questions in their mind regarding the company. The part we don’t understand is that how can a company change the specs of a product without revising it? Another thing was the information regarding the fan. Thermalright claims to include a fan with their SLK-947U heatsink and yet we didn’t receive one. If Thermalright didn’t included a fan with our sample then we don’t mind updating this review after we receive some answers from Thermalright but if Thermalright failed to include a fan with other orders then it becomes a serious issue and is something we should really be concerned about in the future. We will try our best to get answers from Thermalright regarding the misleading information found on their website. The wrong information on Thermalright’s website will hurt their reputation in the near future and will cause buyers to loose trust in them.

As promised above, we decided to further investigate our concerns. We sent an email to Thermalright regarding the issues we encountered right after we published the review. We received no response from Thermalright for about a week. Then we sent another email to Thermalright and finally got a response from one of their marketing specialists. He informed us that our email had been forwarded to their review specialist and assured us that we will get a reply from him (review specialist) as soon as he gets done analyzing our concerns and our review. After couple weeks, around midnight we finally received Thermalright’s official reply regarding the company’s website and our questions.

According to Jim Wei, Thermalright’s representative, our email raised in-depth discussions with their Artists, R&D Engineers, and Marketing Specialists regarding the questions we raised in our review.

First thing we want to state isn’t necessary but Thermalright provided us with a thorough answer so we decided to include it in this article. If you have read our review, you might have noticed the dry packaging it came in. It wasn’t very impressive at all. After Jim Wei’s discussion with their company artists and packaging staff, he told us that they would try their best to redesign product packages in the future and would also make the shipping box strong enough to prevent the product from getting damaged even if dropped from 5 Ft. or below.
