I presume a lot of you know about Sonos and its revolutionary multi-room audio capabilities. Well, the Eos Wireless iPod Speaker System is similar. In fact, it’s a little too similar to what Sonos is already offering, albeit a lot cheaper. The idea here is for you to plug-in your iPod in the base station, which controls up to four bases at any given time, and enjoy your music. Since there aren’t a lot of details available, we are thinking the device has its own network that wirelessly interacts and relays your music library to every base, which you can tune in to. Sonos does something similar, though it uses your home network and the music on your PC to function. Also, we are unclear whether or not the Eos wireless iPod speaker system will allow you to play four different types of music on four separate bases. If it does, Sonos has a clear competitor on its hands.

The kit starts at $299 for the base station and one speaker. All speakers after that cost $129, and there’s no word on how many speakers the device can support at one time. Eos is hoping to release the speaker set in March 2007.
