Apple Computer, Inc. released a slew of patches for its Mac OS X operating system and Safari browser, among other programs today. The patches address a number of security concerns including iChat, apache_mod_php, mail and Launch Services. If you're a Mac user running OS X 10.4.5, it's recommended you install the updates.

It surprises me that Apple did the updates on a Monday. Previous patches coincided with Microsoft's "Patch Tuesday." Perhaps they're trying to distance themselves from being viewed like Microsoft, or perhaps it's just a coincidence. Whatever the reason maybe, I did find the departure from their pattern interesting.
