So, it looks like Apple may indeed launch its highly anticipated (as if that’s a surprise) iPhone. According to sources, the iPhone will feature a candy-bar design with a 2.2-inch display, 3-megapixel camera and support for iTunes and iSync. Nothing too earth-shattering at this point, in my opinion, but since the phone is coming from Apple, you can bet on smooth GUI, intuitiveness and an overall great device. Remember that Apple has the magic to make any mundane and otherwise standard device into a winner and industry shaker. The latest iPhone related news is that Apple has partnered with Cingular for its iPhone, which is on schedule for a launch in January, 2007. Shouldn’t Apple have launched the iPhone in Q4 to benefit from the shopping season later this year? The report suggests: “Apple's exclusive contract with Cingular is said to be good for the first six months, sources report, meaning other providers will be able to sell the phone in the second-half of 2007. Cingular had an exclusive on the Motorola ROKR—the first phone to feature iTunes—when it launched last year.” Let’s hope Apple + Cingular partnership is not jinxed and doesn’t fail the iPhone like it did with the Motorola ROKR. {moscomment} |
