Archos, a considerably well known name in portable audio players, has released its XS104 MP3 player to the masses.

The XS104 is available in 4GB capacity, has a 1.5”, 262k color display, support for MP3, WMA and WAV audio formats, weighs 80g and measures 91x43x14mm.

If there’s anyone who understands how to be unique, it’s Archos. At least that’s what I feel about the company. While Sony, Creative and others focus on increasing their market share to remain in business, Archos is focused on delivering quality players (not that others aren’t quality driven). If anything, Archos is more of a niche player that knows it can’t beat the top companies in the world and might as well focus on quality to create a niche that will benefit them in the long run. Of course, Archos isn’t as well known in the North American market as it might be in Asia, so my assumptions could be misplaced.

The XS104 is available immediately for an average price of $140.
