| Disposable MP3 Player for $9.00 - Wednesday, 12 April 2006 |

What would you think of an inexpensive, simple MP3 player? For under $9.00, you can find out for yourself. Japanese manufacturer Evergreen is now selling their DN-2000 for the aforementioned price, making it the world’s most inexpensive portable audio player. The simply designed player runs for five hours off of a single AAA battery, and can hold as many songs as you can cram onto your SD card. That's right; Evergreen keeps the cost very low by letting the consumer provide the memory. Considering most of us either have SD cards lying around or know where to get one for cheap, this is a pretty reasonable idea. Even if you bought a 1GB card for $30.00, this player still costs under $40.00. What's even better about the device is the tremendous potential. Think about the possibilities: use some in your next presentation at work and impress the CEO. Need a gift for an 8 year old who wants an MP3 player? A $200 iPod is not a good solution, but a sub-$10.00 one with good sound and very straightforward operation is. This could be great for those who can't afford a more expensive player or those who aren't tech savvy enough to work with complicated menus and settings. The DN-2000 is not the fanciest player out there (it was never meant to be), but for $9.00, it opens up new horizons. What a great idea. - Subscribe to CoolTechZone.com's Techblog RSS Feed |
