I'm sure it's making huge waves all over the tech world: Windows Vista, successor to XP, is being delayed…again.

If this is news, then you must not have been paying attention since 2002 or so. The delay won't affect enterprise customers, but for the home user, it will result in additional wait time, at least until Q1 2007 - a full two months later than the previous date given by Microsoft. According to Microsoft, the delay is due to security enhancements on Vista. While it’s pleasant to see Microsoft pay attention to security, the wait is simply getting ridiculous.

The delay is no surprise to me, as I've always said that Vista won’t come out until Q2 2007. Microsoft is almost there, so it would be interesting to see whether or not I was right.

I'm a proud owner of a Samsung YP-MT6X MP3 player. Let me tell you that this little guy has survived drops, being my cat's toy, while I wasn't paying attention and makes my DJ Tiesto albums sound great. Only problem: It's difficult to live with only 512MB on your MP3 player. Enter Samsung's YP-Z5 series. Designed to directly compete with the Apple iPod Nano, it’s available in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB storage capacities, and comes in black and silver. As useful as all that memory sounds, this player boasts a very interesting feature: an OLED screen. Not only are OLEDs next generation technology, but they are supposed to be easier on your eyes as well.

Be assured, once my MT6 dies, I'm definitely going to get one of these... and maybe load a few more Tiesto albums into my playlist.

Global Positioning System is not just for the military or the wealthy anymore; Garmin International is launching a new GPS device called the eTrex Venture Cx.

A small, yellow handheld, features a 176x220 TFT screen, has expandable memory, gets about 32 hours of battery life from a pair of AA batteries and is waterproof. Even though it's an entry-level product, it will set you back a nice $250.

While $250 sounds like a hefty price tag, especially if you're going to use it once on that one trip. That's a lot of money for a toy that'll collect dust. On the other hand, however, if you're an avid lover of the outdoors and have priced other GPS devices, you'll find this one a surprisingly reasonable deal.

The coolest kid in the class? No. The guy always asking you for change by the mall? No. FuntKlakow is a forum bot that’s making its rounds by registering itself on at least 36,000 PHPBB forums. It's not known why this bot is there, or what it can do. Some speculations have included that it's only waiting for vulnerability to exploit. Regardless of what it can do, anyone out there running a PHPBB-powered forum needs to browse through their members lists, and ban FuntKlakow once and for all.

I’ve always noticed this, but only recently I’m making an entry about this. We all know Apple’s iPod is a headline grabbing device, and what you read in the news is generally what you pay attention to, and thus buy. While it’s all well and good for Apple, there’s an unfortunate side effect to the overall economics of MP3 players and the industry. Disappointingly, companies like Sony, iRiver, Creative, and the like never truly get the chance to showcase their products as much as Apple does, but that’s a byproduct of competition at its best.

Other than the most common names in the CE industry mentioned above, Archos is another great company with above average products that’s worth considering for your next MP3 player or video player. The Archos Gmini XS 100, for instance, is a small and light MP3 player with an aesthetically pleasing design and a great navigational GUI. Thanks to the iPod, these devices never really get the chance to be discovered by mainstream consumers who call every MP3 player an iPod, which is an insult (no, it’s not flattering) to the mirage of devices that are better than the iPod in numerous ways.
