For years, videos games were console based for the most part, then later on high-end graphics allowed them to gain a stronger foothold in the PC realm. Today, PC games are a huge hit with loyal users all over the globe. Despite this success, Google is looking to push forth a real game changer in how people access popular video games.

According to 1up.com, Google is hoping to make the success of browser based games, a reality. Using a Chrome App Store and Google Checkout, Google provides a great video demonstrating how this kind of thing might come together.

It’s interesting to watch and see what a huge powerhouse Google has managed to grow into. Search, advertising and now their mobile offerings. Clearly Google has made a name for themselves in such a way that some telcoms might be inclined to possibly work with the search giant to keep their interests in check.

According to the Guardian, there had been reports that Google and Verizon allegedly had conversations about the potential of Verizon carrying Google traffic. This of course, would be seen by many as killing off net neutrality. Google has responded in kind by claiming that no such conversation has taken place and the report which originated from the NY Times, was factually incorrect.

Too confusing for us to fully understand? Maybe the concept was simply flawed from day one? When trying to determine why Google Wave is one of the most confusing, useless concepts to ever roll out of Google Labs, one only look to how insane it was to use.

According to GigaOm, Friendster patents have been purchased by Facebook recently. The patents relate to the ability to offer advertising in addition to offering virtual goods to the masses. And considering the fact that Friendster was headed into an early demise anyway, selling off the patents makes a lot of sense.

Google had a great run. Thanks in part to their success in search, they’ve been able to expand in to other areas such as their virtual office suite and Android. But there are those who believe that they’ve hit a glass ceiling, despite this success.

As explained by Fortune Tech, Google’s stable increase in earnings has stopped flat, while Apple has seen massive gains. To make matters worse, there is the problem of remaining relevant with Facebook, Twitter and the social web scene as well.

With Chrome and Firefox being available for OS X users, it leaves Safari playing catchup in many respects. Still considered a good browser, it was in need of a serious refresh to continue remaining relevant.

TechCrunch reports that an answer to call to update Safari has been heard and needed functionality, added. New features such as extensions have been offered, which are expected to keep people interested in using Safari for their browsing needs.

Now more than ever, Google fans are maintaining multiple user accounts in an effort to balance their home and business lives within the Google universe. In response, Google is addressing this need in what appears to be a big way.

According to the Google Operating System Blog, Google has begun their testing of multiple account user logins. At this point, the Google services supporting multiple user login include Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Reader, Google Docs, Google Sites and Google Code.

For Facebook, Zynga has fast become a household name. Their games instantly changed the way many of us look at Facebook and how we interact with our friends on the platform. Now imagine what it might do for Google in the same way?

According to GigaOM, Google and Zynga are going to be working out a gaming deal that could very well translate into whole new section for Google to offer to their users. Expected to be called Google Games, Zynga and Google have been quiet on this which has left us with little more than speculation.

I guess I never really appreciated the value of Facebook’s virtual shop. Maybe it’s because I never used it or honestly wrapped my mind around the idea of giving the gift of virtual “stuff.”

TechCrunch is reporting that this will no longer be an issue, as Facebook is looking to dump this feature from the list of Facebook options. I honestly doubt anyone is going to miss it much, as it always felt like something one might expect on MySpace instead. And considering the resources that it would have taken to keep this going, I think Facebook made a good call here.
