CoolerMaster has a reputation of being one of the
best in the cooling market. They manufacture cases, heat sinks,
fan controllers and many other things. CoolerMaster works really
hard to keep their reputation against ThermalTake, Zalman or ThermalRight.
CoolerMaster not only focus their attention on performance but
they also make sure that their products are eye-catching. We like
the fact that CoolerMaster pays close attention to both perspectives
{Performance & Looks}. CoolerMaster was kind enough to send
us Aero 7 Lite HeatSink for AMD Processors. Aero 7 Lite is basically
a small sister/brother to Aero 7+. We are using Aero 7+ in our
labs for a long time and we have been really impressed with it.
Unlike Aero 7+, Aero 7 Lite is very affordable. Let’s find
out if this heatsink can stand up to its sister/brother Aero 7+.
The very first thing that we notice in the specification
sheet is the processor support. In the press release, CoolerMaster
announced that Aero 7 Lite would support AMD processors up to
3400+, which is very nice since it gives the user head start on
the heatsink but in the specification sheet above which is taken
from CoolerMaster website shows us the processor support for Athlons
upto 3200+. CoolerMaster certainly needs to clear this misconception.
From the specs above you can also see that this heatsink not only
support current Athlons {Socket A} but it will also support future
AMD processors such as “ClawHammer” {Socket 754}.
This heatsink also supports Pentium 3 processors, which is a nice
touch by CoolerMaster even though it was not necessary. Fan dimensions
are 80X80X70 as you can see above which will reduce noise while
running at lower rpms. Rated Speed for the fan on Aero 7 Lite
is 1900~3500 RPMs. As you know that lower rpms means lower noise
level. This heatsink is made out of aluminum unlike its predecessor
{Aero 7+} which is made out of solid copper. Usually copper heatsinks
are better but CoolerMaster assured us that this would not be
the case with their Aero 7 Lite.
From the pictures above you can see the differences
in both Aero 7+ as well as Aero 7 Lite. Aero 7 Lite is certainly
bigger than Aero 7+. You can also see that Aero 7+ is made out
of solid copper while Aero 7 Lite is made out of Aluminum.
