PolarFLO is rather new in the enthusiast cooling
market, if compared to Thermaltake or CoolerMaster. So, PolarFLO
is definitely not a cooling giant manufacturer that has the ability
to hire manufacturing staff, marketing team, or technical support
but that doesn’t mean that they don’t have a bright
future or their products aren’t worthwhile to purchase.
In fact, after looking at their products, the first thing that
caught our eye was the finishing done on their water-blocks. We
have not seen such fine finishing even from experienced heatsink
manufacturers.
Surely, finishing is not everything that makes a
product worthwhile. You, as a consumer, must look on the performance
side of things when it comes to purchasing PC components. We received
a PolarFLO CPU Water-Block in our lab few weeks ago and we must
say that the performance was just as good as the finishing.
Packaging:
Water-Block itself is not very heavy even though
the base is made out of finely finished copper. We received the
block in a white, rectangular box that had no professional look
to it. It was a plain, cardboard box with our shipping address
printed on it. Packaging of this block allowed no predictions
of the block whatsoever, except for the weight.
Once inside, we found no protective styrofoam sheets
or any other material protecting the block. This could cause damages
to the product during the shipping/handling process. Every accessory
along with the water-block was put right on top of each other.
We have to say that we weren’t impressed with PolarFLO’s
packaging techniques.
EDIT:We just received an email from PolarFLO stating that they
did put the water-block in a non-abrasive protective pouch but
during shipping/handling, security might have removed it. We take
back our assumptions regarding the protection of the block.
