Cisco Systems, one of the top names in networking products, is investigating an alleged theft of one of the company's networking products' source code. The information about the theft was posted on SecurityLab, an online publication, last weekend.

Only the following comments were reported by CoolTechZone sources who confirmed the statements.

Cisco is aware that a potential compromise of its proprietary information occurred and was reported on a public Web site just prior to the weekend. Cisco is fully investigating what happened," Cisco reported in an official statement.

"As a matter of policy, we take security very seriously, and we continue to take every measure to protect our intellectual property, employee and customer information. Cisco will remain focused on its customers and their success and will continue to monitor the situation."

Cisco declined to comment specifically on the situation, however, SecurityLabs posted that hackers hacked into the company's networks and stole about 800MB of source code. The hackers were able to steal some of the most crucial piece of the code that is currently being used in various Cisco networking products. It could post security dangers, but there is no official statement regarding the security risk.
Cisco also faced problems with a flaw was discovered in TCP, which could lead hackers to take down parts of the Internet with Denial-of-Service attack.
