Microsoft gets new CIO

Microsoft appointed a new CIO yesterday. Ron Markezich will now serve as the new CIO of the software giant, Microsoft. Markezich will take this responsibility from Rick Devenuti who was promoted to coporate Vice President of Microsoft's Worldwide Services Organization last year. Devenuti was serving the role of VP as well as the company's CIO at the same time. Markezich will now report to Devenuti in the company's business.

Markezich will be responsible for using Microsoft's own technology to support its business and work with Microsoft's enterprise consumers to try to solve problems.

The CIO will have approximately 300,000 machines with 400 applications and 55,000 employees in 85 countries to work with under this particular position in the world's largest software maker. According to Markezich, Microsoft's internal IT staff consists of 3,500 employees.

Markezich along with a colleague Pete Boden has issued a list of New Year's resolutions for 2004. The new CIO of Microsoft wants to help IT administrators based on Microsoft's IT products. He will also help the company's enterprise consumers with product analysis, critical processes, and consolidate IT resources.
