Asustek, a consumer electronics firm, is set to build a production plant in Shanghai, China. According to Taiwan Stock Exchange, the company will spend around $25 Million (US) on the project.

Asustek's current production plant in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province also in China employs 34,000 employees with a net revenue of $6 Billion (import and export) noted in 2003, according to company sources, reported by DigiTimes.

The plant will help Asustek focus it's efforts on producing it's current line of products at a higher production rate. The list includes motherboards, notebooks, game consoles and other IT products in China according to sources in Asustek reported by DigiTimes.

The decision to invest in China with the second plant still needs approvement from Taiwan's Investment Commission even though Asustek's Board of Directors has approved the project said company sources.
