Advanced Micro Devices announced the AMD Alchemy DBAu1550 security network processor development board, which is designed for network access devices while keeping security and speed in mind. Using the new Development Board, developers will be able Speed Product Design and Reduce Time to Market for devices such as Secure Gateways, Wireless Access Points, Network Attached Storage (NAS) units, and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) environments.

The high-performance, low-power AMD Alchemy Au1550 processor, AMD's latest product in its Alchemy product line, operates at an unbelievable half a watt.

The AMD Alchemy DBAu1550 development kit includes the Au1550 security network processor which features an integrated security engine that implements the entire VPN packet protocol in hardware which allows for accelerated Ipsec packet-processing. The Au1550 processor is capable of sustaining unlimited VPN tunnels simultaneously.

Key features of the AMD Alchemy Au1550 security network processor include:

The DBAu1550 development board kit is available now for $1,995 from AMD and its distributors. AMD will showcase the new board during Computex, June 1 - 5 2004, at Taipei, Taiwan.
