Everything is pretty much mentioned on the specification
sheet at Zalman’s website. The fan/light controller's front
plate is made out of blue glass, which makes it looks great. There
are 4 fan controllers and 2 light controllers. Above each control
there is a bright blue LED, which lights up when the fans are
connected and working. Even the LEDs have functionality in this
controller. It is not there just to make the controller look attractive.
The LED’s lightens and darkens according to the speed of
your computer’s case fans. Having this feature is kind of
helpful since you can just look at the LED and guess what speed
your fan is running at. Surely, LED does not tell you the exact
speed of the fan. As a matter of fact there is no visual speed
checker that will tell you what speed the fans are running at.
It is a low point but you can get away with it. As stated earlier,
there are 4 knobs that are used to control the fans. The knobs
look well and match with the controller. There are 2 light switches.
These switches are based on old designs. User will have to flip
the light switches up and down to make the light work. There are
three modes in the light control switches. They are 5V, off, 12V.
These modes simply means that if you are running your light at
5V then you have to flip the switch that way otherwise, you will
have to flip the switch towards 12V or turn the light completely
off. Zalman has labeled everything on its controller therefore,
making it easier for it’s users to understand the controller’s
functionality. Since everything is labeled including the manufacturer’s
name and model number, Zalman decided to include their web address
on it which is very amateurish and certainly a negative point.
We have hardly seen any manufacturers putting their web addresses
on their products.
