IWILL set to launch Dual-Processor Barebones

IWILL Corporation, an industry leading manufacturer of dual processor workstation motherboards, will soon release its barebones for two AMD Opteron microprocessors.

The IWILL ZMAXdp comes in Small Form Factor (SFF). SFF has become pretty popular after Shuttle launched its Cube-like XPC's owing to advantages of its compact design and quiet PCs.
It is a Perfect solution for CAD/CAM, Video/Graphic Designers as it is stylish, small, quiet, but very powerful workstations.

"IWILL ZMAXdp is designed with the digital professional in mind, from pre-visualization to audio post-production. With features to boost performance and a stable architecture, the AMD Opteron processor for workstations is key to the end-to-end digital production environment. The AMD Opteron processor, enabling simultaneous 32 and 64-bit computing, represents the landmark introduction of AMD64 with Direct Connect Architecture." the company announced in the press-release, AMDBoard.com reported.

Direct Connect Architecture will address and help reduce the real challenges and bottlenecks of system architectures. It will Increases memory latency performance, provide more balanced throughput and I/O, and allow for more linear symmetrical multiprocessing.

IWILL’s ZMAXdp will sport two AMD Opteron 200-series microprocessors based on NVIDIA nForce2 250Gb core-logic supporting 800MHz Hyper Transport bus, Serial ATA-150 with RAID support, Gigabit Ethernet, NVIDIA’s very own Firewall technology, 1 AGP 8x , 1 PCI slot, 2 bays for 3.5” HDDs in addition to 1 5.25” bay. It will also come with 300W power-supply unit.

IWILL ZMAX based on nVIDIA nForce3 Pro 250Gb chipset will sample in July. Volume production is planned in September, with a suggested price of $499.

While the market for such systems is not as large as the market for small PCs, IWILL being the first company to make a 2P small form-factor workstation is likely to enjoy high gross-margins of 2-way systems.
