Sapphire’s 9600 has video out capability as
one of its features and to accommodate this feature, Sapphire
has included an NTSC/PAL jumper. The jumper should be set to appropriate
setting to switch between a TV and a monitor.
Samsung’s K4D261638E-TC50 memory modules were
used on the 9600 for optimal performance. There were four memory
modules in the front and four on the back, in-total creating 128MB.
The memory is rated for speeds up to 400Mhz and Sapphire clocked
the memory at 404Mhz, so there is definitely no hope for good
overclocks. Cooling will also be a major limiting factor to the
9600’s final overclocking results.
DVI, CRT, and Video out ports were at their standard
locations.
Sapphire 9600: Overclocking
We weren’t hoping for high overclocking results
from this card. The use of passive cooling on the GPU was a limiting
factor but we later found out that Sapphire decided to lock the
BIOS on this card. This is not very encouraging especially, when
9600s are really good overclockers. You might be able to fix this
issue by searching for a new BIOS.
